Youngsters in the Burnham-On-Sea area have until Wednesday April 27th to enter this year’s contest to become the Carnival Queen or a Princess.
Entries for the annual competition are being accepted now ahead of the winners being picked during a pageant to be held at The Princess Theatre at 7pm on Friday 29th April.
“We are looking for girls and ladies to participate in this prestigious event to be in with a chance of becoming the official 2016 Carnival Queen or Princess,” said co-organiser Carrie-Anne New.
“The lucky winners will not only receive a photograph of themselves at the pageant, they will also receive prize money of £300 for the Queen and £100 per Princess.”
Carnival Queen Convenor Tony Rees added: “Winning the Carnival Queen and Princess Pageant provides individuals with an excellent opportunity to get involved more with their local community and to gain invaluable life experience. A great thing to put on your CV.”
Carnival Queen entrants must be 14 years old or over (there is no upper age limit). Carnival Princesses must be aged between 7 – 13 years.
All entrants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Carnival Queen entry fees are £10 and Carnival Princess entry fees are £6.
The Queen and Princesses will be required to participate in the 2016 Carnival Procession on Monday 7th November 2016. The Carnival Queen will also be expected to attend various events throughout the year, to include the Carnival Presentation Evening in January 2017. This year’s Queen entry forms are available by clicking here, while the Princess entry forms are available by clicking here.
The 70th annual Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea Carnival will be held on Monday November 7th at 7.30pm.
