Over 150 people from carnival clubs across Somerset gathered in Brean on Friday evening (January 16th) for Burnham and Highbridge Carnival’s annual presentation night.

Carnival Queen Tara Moxey and Carnival President Malcolm Borland handed out over twenty trophies and tankards to representatives from the clubs that won awards for their carnival floats at last November’s colourful procession.

Members of Gremlins Carnival Club are pictured above being presented with the sought-after Phil Harris Memorial Bowl for the best entry in the entire procession. Their entry, called Nemesis, wowed the crowds at last year’s carnival.

Among the local winners was Highbridge’s Hillview Carnival Club, whcih won the Life President’s Cup for best local entry. The Lucy Gunter Dance Group won the Philip Lockyear Memorial Cup for the best entry in the ‘anything goes’ category and the Chamber of Trade Cup for second place in the best local entries.

Friday’s presentation evening was held at the Farmer’s Tavern at Brean Leisure Park.
