The start of Monday night’s Burnham-On-Sea Carnival was delayed by 10 minutes after two illegally parked vehicles blocked the route of the procession and had to be towed away.
The two cars were left in Victoria Street, as pictured here, and the owners wandered off to watch the big procession.
Police were called and a recovery truck was used to tow them away, allowing the parade to begin at 7.40pm instead of the advertised 7.30pm.
“The cars were parked in an area marked by police cones. The drivers were given ample time to move their vehicles before the start,” carnival marshall, Dave Burrows, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“Unfortunately neither driver was located, therefore the police authorised the vehicles be towed away by recovery units. This held up the start of the procession for several minutes.”
