Carnival clubs from across Somerset gathered for the annual Highbridge and Burnham Carnival presentation night on Saturday (January 5th).
Over 200 people put aside recent discussions about the date of this year’s Burnham Carnival to focus on the positive outcomes of last year’s procession.
The event was held at the Oaktree Arena in Highbridge and saw more than 40 trophies and shields presented to the winners of last November’s parade.
Gremlins Carnival Club received the main trophy, the Phil Harris Memorial Bowl, for the best entry in the entire Burnham procession after their stunning float ‘Revolution’ impressed the judges. Burnham Carnival President Malcolm Borland is pictured with Carnival Queen Jenna Picton and Carnival Chairman Phil New presenting the trophy.
Members of Burnham’s Hillview Carnival Club, pictured below, also had a great night, receiving several awards for their cart ‘Hollywood Hotel’, including best local entry and most outstanding lcoal costumes.
Phil New told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Saturday’s event was a great evening when clubs from across the county came together to look back at a super carnival.”
