Carnival clubs from across Somerset gathered together for the annual Highbridge and Burnham Carnival presentation evening last night (Saturday, January 4th).
Over 200 people flocked to the Oaktree Arena in Highbridge to see more than 40 trophies and shields presented to the winners of last November’s parade by Carnival Queen Emma Nicholson and President Malcolm Borland.
Ramblers Carnival Club received the top trophy, the Phil Harris Memorial Bowl, pictured right, for the best entry in the entire Burnham procession after their stunning float ‘Swarm Force’ impressed the judges.
Members of Burnham’s Hillview Carnival Club, pictured below, also had a great night, receiving six awards for their cart ‘Luck Of The Irish’, including best local entry and most outstanding local costumes.
Carnival Chairman Phil New told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This event was a great night for the clubs from across Somerset to come together and look back at a super carnival. While we were presenting the winners with their trophies, the real winner here is the carnival itself which continues to be such a success.”
