Proposals to convert part of this parking area in Burnham-On-Sea into a car washing centre have this week been turned down by district council planners.
The land owner had applied for full planning permission to use the car park at the rear of Morrisons supermarket and next to Burnham lifeboat station for a new car valeting business.
However, the proposals were rejected at this week’s meeting of Sedgemoor District Council’s development control committee amid concern the operation would have disturbed nearby residents.
A council spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “By reason of the siting of the valeting service in such close proximity to the neighbouring residents, the proposed development would result in an unacceptable level of noise and disturbance which would be detrimental to the amenity enjoyed by neighbouring residents.”
