Stranded vehicle towed to safety from Burnham-On-Sea beach

-

A car had to be towed to safety after it got stuck in mud on Burnham-On-Sea beach this morning (Sunday).

The front wheels of the Volkswagen sank into soft sand and mud next to Burnham jetty while its owner attempted to recover a jet ski.

A tractor from rescue charity BARB (Burnham Area Rescue Boat) was called and the vehicle was quickly hauled to safety.

Vehicle owner Martin Barnard said: “I have used the beach here many times before but misjudged the mud while trying to recover my jet ski. I was very grateful for the help of BARB.”

Mr Barnard made a donation to BARB to cover its costs. The charity assists with car rescues where there is concern that people may put themselves in danger by attempting to reach vehicles.
