Fresh questions have been raised about safety at an ‘accident blackspot’ in Burnham-On-Sea following a new crash on Saturday (May 18th).
The driver of a Peugeot lost control while negotiating the sharp bend in Stoddens Road near the BASC Ground entrance.
The vehicle left the road and was partly buried in deep undergrowth, as pictured here. The driver was left shaken, said residents.
Local resident Peter Little told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “When will the highways authority replace the crash barrier on this corner after promising it would be replaced 3 years ago! Are they still waiting for someone to be killed?”
Another added: “Think is accident number 9 in recent years – and there’s still been no action from the County Council. Ages ago they were going to renew the crash barrier, but we are still waiting.”
Police placed blue tape along the roadside.
