£600k of cannabis plants seized in Burnham’s biggest-ever drugs raid

-

Over half a million pounds worth of cannabis plants were seized in Burnham-On-Sea’s biggest ever drugs raid on Monday, December 3rd.

Police swooped on Patricia Close, off St Christopher’s Way, and found an astonishing 600 cannabis plants throughout the property.

“This is the largest cannabis factory we’ve found in Burnham,” Sgt Ian Kennett from Burnham Police told town councillors at a meeting on Monday evening.

“We’ve seized over half a million pounds worth of cannabis plants from what was an incredibly professional set-up.”

“Around 600 plants were taken away, each with a street value of £1,000.”

He added that further enquiries are ongoing and that the plants have been taken away for analysis.

Officers, acting on itelligence from the local community, carried out the raid this afternoon in the normally surroundings of Patricia Close.

Police vans and cars were at the scene throughout the day, as pictured here, as the plants and equipment was taken away.

Burnham’s Mayor, Cllr Ken Smout, praised police and told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I and the whole council congratulate the police on this, which will take a lot of drugs off streets in the region. I would urge anyone in our community who has suspicions about drug dealing or cultivation to get in contact with the police.”
