-

A talented Burnham-On-Sea teenager is celebrating after achieving a place at Cambridge University.

Bethan Marshall, 17, from Highbridge’s King Alfred School, has been successful in her application to the prestigious university.

She has been offered a place by Gonville and Caius College to read Physical Natural Sciences.

It comes after she achieved five A grades at AS Level in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics last summer. She is currently in her final year at King Alfred School Sixth Form.

Headteacher Andrew Owen told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am delighted with Bethan’s achievement. We are very proud of the achievements of all of our students and they wouldn’t gain success without their own hard work and the support and guidance of their parents, teachers and support staff.”

“It goes to show that if students are willing to dedicate themselves to their academic studies they can achieve their goals.”

Bethan said she is delighted to receive the offer. She added that she is grateful for the help she has received from the school which included mock interviews, specialist tuition from Cambridge graduates and guidance through the application process.
