Burnham-On-Sea couple set to pitch their car seat product on TV show

-

An entrepreneurial Burnham-On-Sea couple are set to appear on a Channel 4 TV show next week where their inflatable child car booster seat will be featured.

Sue and Steve Spaven will be featured on Channel 4’s ‘Buy it Now’ on Tuesday, 24th April at 5.30pm.

The couple have invented Caboost, an inflatable child car booster seat, and will be shown pitching their product to real shoppers on the TV show with the aim of attracting retailers.

Burnham-On-Sea’s GW Hurley newsagents in the High Street will be the local stockist for Caboost.

Sue told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Steve, my husband, and I have been designing and developing the Caboost for the last 7 years, after I was in a local car wash and the kids were playing with a hard booster seat. I thought, ‘Why can’t I just fold this away to keep it out of their reach somewhere, why don’t we make this inflatable?'”

“We had a look at how these seats were made and then designed and developed the Caboost from there. We did not want to re-invent the booster seat, we just wanted to make it better.”

“Through this process we recognized just how uncomfortable the traditional booster seats are and so we developed the construction of Caboost, using air cushion technology, to ensure that not only was safety a priority, but comfort as well.”

“Furthermore, Caboost offers the convenience to roll away when not in use, which makes it ideal as a spare for friends and family and perfect for overseas travel, as it can be packed away in your hand luggage.”

Caboost has been tested and approved to comply with the very latest regulations for Europe, UN ECE R44.04, and has been crash-tested in both the inflated and deflated state.

She added: “I would like to take this opportunity to confirm that the new regulations surrounding booster seats are far simpler than many have been led to believe. Booster cushions are no longer considered safe for Group 2 children, which cover from 15-22Kg in mass.”

“Hence, the regulation has been changed so that no new booster cushions will be approved for this group, only high-backed boosters. Caboost fully complies with this, and so, is only to be use by children from 22-36Kg (roughly 6-12 years old).”

Steve added: “We believe that the TV show’s national exposure will be the springboard for us to offer the public a booster cushion which is actually comfortable. We would urge your readers to watch and see the difference between Caboost and a traditional ‘piece of hard plastic’, which is all that our children have had in terms of a proper everyday use booster seat.”

“Our future plans are to establish Caboost in the UK, Europe and around the world. Caboost has been tested and complies with all requirements for sale in the USA as well. We also have the high-backed version of Caboost in the pipeline, which will enable smaller children to have a comfortable ride, as well.”
