A motorist had a lucky escape after suffering just cuts and bruises after her car ploughed into this bus stop in Berrow on Wednesday afternoon (September 8th).
Emergency services were called to Coast Road after a Kia ploughed into this bus shelter, which was fortunately empty at the time.
Police spokesman Simon Whitby told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Police were called to Coast Road at 3.10pm after the Kia collided into a bus shelter.”
“An elderly female passenger inside suffered cuts and was treated at the scene. An ambulance and the fire brigade were also called.”
He added that Coast Road, which has been the centre of a long-running road safety campaign, was temporarily closed while the emergency crews were on scene.
A team from Somerset County Council was also called to check on the structure of the badly-damaged bus shelter.
