Councillor calls for action after Burnham to Bristol bus is withdrawn

-

An angry town councillor this week demanded answers from bus company First Group after it ended its direct service from Burnham-On-Sea to Bristol.

Cllr David Poole, Burnham’s second deputy mayor, told a meeting of the town council that it was an “absolute disgrace that the people of Burnham and Highbridge have lost out.”

He said the X96 service from Burnham-On-Sea to Bristol had been withdrawn with no prior warning or even an explanation why.

“It’s especially disruptive for those Burnham and Highbridge travellers who want to travel to Bristol by bus without having to first go to Weston and then changing services.”

Burnham’s town clerk, Eileen Shaw, said the matter would be pursued further with First Group.
