Burnham-On-Sea’s St Andrew’s Church is preparing for a busy Christmas period of events and services.

Christmas concert:
St Andrew’s Church is delighted to be hosting a Christmas concert this evening, Saturday 16th December at 7.30 pm when Richard Lennox will be returning to perform at the church, supported by Kate Eastment, Marcus Evans and Francesca Bowkett. Always a popular event, tickets are available from Burnham Post office or on the door, priced £10, to include refreshments.
Parish Carol Service:
All are welcome to the Burnham Parish Carol Service, to be held in St Andrew’s Church on Sunday 17th December at 6.30pm. Traditional Carols and readings, as well as choral music performed by St Andrew’s Church Choir. Reverend Sharon Eldergill, Associate Vicar, said: “The Parish Carol service is open to all, and is a special time to step out of the busyness leading up to Christmas; to sing carols and consider afresh the Christmas story before embarking on the busy week leading up to Christmas itself. A warm welcome is extended to all.”
3rd Thursday Dementia friendly Celebration
The 3rd Thursday service meet on Thursday December 21st at 2.30pm for a Christmas celebration. Open to all, and dementia friendly, there will be familiar and well-loved carols and Christmas readings, followed by a Christmas tea of sandwiches and cake. All are welcome to this happy event.
Winter Solstice Service
All are welcome to a service to mark the Winter Solstice and to celebrate the returning of the light following the shortest day. It will take place at St Andrew’s Church on Thursday 21st December at 6pm. A peaceful, welcoming and reflective service, open to all, followed by mulled cider and Somerset fruit cake.
Christingle
The annual Christingle service in aid of the Children’s Society is to be held at St Andrew’s Church on Christmas Eve at 5pm. Reverend Sharon said: “Christingle is a special service, beloved of children and adults alike, throughout generations. The simple symbolism of the orange with a candle on top representing Christ as the light of the world is explained as the Christingle are made and lit. They are then taken home to decorate and grace the table at Christmas lunch. All are very welcome to come along to this service.”
Midnight Mass
St Andrew’s Church warmly welcomes everyone to Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve to celebrate Christmas with the breaking of bread. The service starts at 11.15pm.
Christmas Day at St Andrew’s
The Christmas Day service at St Andrew’s Church wil be held at 10am. All are welcome to this vestal Eucharist and blessing of the crib as we welcome the Christ-child – the baby Jesus, once again into our world.
