Burnham United U12s complete 9-mile sponsored walk to raise funds for new kits

-

Young footballers at Burnham Utd under 12s have taken part in a nine-mile sponsored walk to raise funds for much-needed new kit and equipment.

The team completed their beach walk on Saturday (23rd February), which was organised by team manager Simon Dawes, and coaches Adam Meadon and Paul Moore.

The team has had the same kit for two seasons due to a lack of funds and some players are now growing out of their clothing and finding their clothes worn.

Players were joined by team members, and their families they walked from the Bay Centre in Burnham through the Apex Park along Burnham seafront, onto the beach, and along to the low lighthouse on then over the dunes, around the golf course, back onto the beach before returning.

It totalled over 20,000 steps, or almost nine miles, and took two and a half hours to complete.  The team even picked up lots of litter along the way!

Sponsorship money will be collected and counted up over the next week or so. Any further contributions would be greatly appreciated via Burnham United FC.
