Burnham United Football Club in shock after kit is stolen in burglary

-

Burnham United Football Club says it is “deeply disappointed and saddened” by a “senseless” overnight burglary in which children’s football kit and equipment was stolen this week.

Burnham United’s building in Cassis Close was broken into during the early hours of Thursday morning (April 10th) and the club has issued an appeal for information by sharing the CCTV image below.

“Unfortunately our Club had multiple items stolen, all belonging to our Junior section,” says club spokesperson Stuart Smith. “The items stolen were junior training equipment, our bouncy castle, a small box of medal, and a foldable sub’s bench, which was very kindly donated by one of the juniors players parents very recently.”

Stuart adds: “We are deeply disappointed and saddened by this senseless act. Our club is more than just a place to play football — it’s a vital part of the local community, bringing people of all ages together and providing a positive environment for young people.”

”To have it targeted in this way is heart-breaking. We rely on the hard work of volunteers and the support of the community, and incidents like this not only cause financial damage but also hurt the spirit of everyone involved.”

A Police spokeswoman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are investigating a burglary that happened at Burnham United Football Club, in Cassis Close, in the early hours of Thursday 10th April.”

“Forensics work has taken place on site as part of our investigation into the incident. CCTV enquiries are ongoing and we’d ask anyone with information to please contact us online, or on 101, quoting reference number 5225102065.”
