A long-running gift shop on Burnham-On-Sea seafront closed on Sunday (November 7th) when its owners retired.
Geoff and Christine Lewis have run the Treasure Chest on Burnham’s Esplanade for 30 years.
Speaking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, Geoff said: “We’ve loved running the shop here for the past three decades but are keen to have some time to ourselves in retirement.”
He adds: “We will miss our many loyal customers — it has been wonderful to see many returning to wish us well. We’ve made so many friends here over the years.”
“We leave with mixed emotions – we will miss the great views on the seafront and the interaction with our customers, but not the long hours.”
”We will continue to live locally, and are looking forward to be able to enjoy our garden and do some travel.”
A new shop will open in its place under new ownership in 2022.
