A fundraising Santa run that was due to be held in Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday (December 8th) for a charity in memory of a local boy who died of cancer has been postponed until December 29th.
Joe Laoutaris, 12, sadly passed away in 2015 after a two-year battle against Ewings Sarcoma cancer.
The sixth annual festive ‘Santa Express Run’ will be held in aid of Young Lives Vs Cancer and Love Musgrove on Burnham-On-Sea Beach for either 5km and 10km participants. The high winds have led to the new date being announced.
Organiser Nikki Stent told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It brings me so much sadness, yet excitement for the near future, to announce that we will need to postpone our special event. It wasn’t an easy decision, however it is vital that we attempt to ‘Save young lives and not risk them’, so we will be going ahead on Sunday 29th December.”
“We won’t allow this horrid weather to spoil our tradition of Love, family, friends and to those children who need us. The money won’t reach the charities before Christmas this year, but certainly after. Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support.”
Registration will open from 10.45am on December 29th and Tori Taylor from Burnham-On-Sea Boot-camp will get everyone moving with the traditional warm up, leading to our race start at 12.15pm. The entry fee is only £10 on the day.
