Burnham Police say 3 people ‘eliminated from enquiries’ into attempted robbery

-

Burnham-On-Sea Police have this week said that three people have been eliminated form their enquiry into an attempted armed robbery at Nationwide Building Society in the town centre earlier this year.

On July 14th this year, officers were called to the Nationwide Building Society branch in Burnham High Street just before 1.30pm.

A man had entered and reportedly threatened the employees. Nothing was taken and no-one was injured, but staff were left shaken, as we reported here.

In a fresh update this week, an Avon and Somerset Police spokesman says: “Two people were arrested and a third attended a voluntary police interview following an attempted robbery at a building society in Burnham-On-Sea on 14th July.”

“At this stage, all three have been eliminated from the enquiry and no further action will be taken.”

He adds: “We’re still keen to speak to anyone with information which helps us to identify those responsible for this offence.”

“If you can help, please call us on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223168621.”

During the incident, officers attended the scene, including armed officers, and the National Police Air Service helicopter was also deployed to help carry out a thorough search of the area.
