Burnham-On-Sea’s Tesco store has become one of the first supermarkets in Somerset to launch free electric car charging points in its car park.
The store in Ben Travers Way has introduced dedicated parking spaces for the charging points on the south side of the car park, as pictured here.
Talking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, Burnham’s Tesco store manager Martin Rose said: “Tesco is gradually introducing electric charging points in all its car parks, but Burnham is one of the first stores in Somerset to get them.”
“Customers need to download a free app first and then they can plug in their vehicle to the charging point to get about 30 miles of charge while they come in the store to do their shopping.”
He adds: “I can see the number of spaces expanding in the future as the popularity of electric cars increases.”
The service, which is being run in conjunction with Volkswagen, went live last week and is free to all customers.
