A talented Burnham-On-Sea Taekwondo enthusiast is celebrating after winning a prestigious gold medal in the sport’s Southern Championships at the weekend.

Tasha Stewart, 16, a Kings Of Wessex Academy student, represented Burnham-based Gemini Taekwondo Club at the Southern Championships in Devon on Saturday.

She achieved first place in the green/blue Women’s Lightweight Division after conceding just 3 points after a first match, flawless victory with a score of 10-0.

Students from Burnham’s T.A.G.B. Tae Kwon-Do club headed to Torbay Leisure Centre to compete in the championships. There were around 400 competitors taking part.
Jane Lambert, Burnham’s senior instructor, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are incredibly proud of Natasha, this was her first competition in an adult division. She was naturally a little apprehensive, but kept her composure under pressure and came away with the perfect result.”
Burnham’s T.A.G.B. Tae-Kwon-Do train every Tuesday and Thursday at King Alfred School when men, women and children of all abilities are welcome.
