Burnham-On-Sea skating rink won’t be returning this Christmas, confirm organisers

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s skating rink won’t be returning this Christmas, it has been confirmed this week.

Organisers from community group Burnham Events Social Team (BEST) have set up the synthetic rink in the town’s Lynton Road car park for the past three Christmas holidays, as pictured here in 2017.

“This year, though, the rink won’t be returning due to a combination of illness, a low number of helpers and the impact of the ice rink at Weston,” BEST’s Kathy Jones told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“It is regrettable because we know that many families look forward to visiting the rink over the holiday season. This year, it is just not possible.”

She added that the rink can also be used as a roller skating rink and the group is therefore hoping to trial a roller skating set-up in the town during 2019.

The rink is now fully self-funded thanks to fundraising by BEST’s team and the support of business sponsors.
