Organisers of Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront fireworks display are promising a “spectacular” show when it takes place this evening (Sunday, November 7th).
Conditions for tonight’s display — which starts at 6.30pm — are set to be dry and cloudy with a moderate breeze of 14mph and temperatures of around 8°C, according to the Burnham-On-Sea weather forecast.
High winds have previously led to the display’s cancellation in some previous years – and any late changes to tonight’s event will be published here on Burnham-On-Sea.com.
A scaffolding platform has been built on Burnham-On-Sea jetty, as pictured here, to enable the thousands of fireworks to be launched.
The platform will allow the fireworks to be launched despite the high tide during the evening.
The 20-minute fireworks display, overseen by Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, will be accompanied by a line-up of hit music from the past few decades.
A spokesman from Skyburst told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It’s going to be a great display this year – we have several new fireworks and, with the tide nearby, some of the fireworks will be reflected on the beach and water which will add to the overall effect.”
Mayor Cllr Mike Facey adds: “The welcome return of this year’s sparkling spectacular promises to be a great display and we hope residents enjoy the evening.”
Burnham-On-Sea.com is among the sponsors of this year’s display, alongside Home Farm holiday park, the Taste of the Orient Chinese restaurant, Barrington & Sons solicitors, plus financial advisors Positive Wealth Creation.
The event will be free of charge, however spectators are encouraged to give donations to Burnham Rotary Club’s charity collectors along the seafront.
Those attending are being asked by the Town Council not to attend if they are unwell and also to take Covid precautions: “Be considerate of those around you to help prevent the spread of Covid and other winter bugs,” says a spokesperson.
