Local charities and good causes have received financial boosts during a charity ball organised by Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club and held at Lympsham’s Batch Country House on Friday evening (June 14th).
The Huntspill Federation of Schools, Burnham Sea Cadets, King Alfred School Academy Cookery Club, Burnham RNLI and Burnham Information and Rescue Service (BIARS) were all presented with cheques from funds raised by the club during the present Rotary year since last July.
The Ball, itself a charity fundraising function, was attended by over 70 people. A magician foxed everybody and Jordan Hill provided excellent music for dancing.
“It will have raised over £800 for Rotary charities and further presentations will be made in a fortnight’s time when current President Ashley Edwards hands over to his successor, Terry Spragg,” said a Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club spokesman.
“The Club continues its service in the community and fundraising for good causes through the coming year.”
Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club meets generally twice monthly on Thursday evenings (7pm for 7.30pm) either at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club, Burnham-on-Sea or The Fox & Goose Inn, Brent Knoll. There are other meetings at other venues in the area. The Club welcomes new members (male and female). For more information call George Moon (01278 789031) or Jane Gibbs (01278 792883).
