Burnham-On-Sea RNLI’s annual ball has been hailed a success after raising £5,000 for the life-saving charity at the weekend.
Over 220 people attended the annual ball when it was held on Saturday 18th October at the Batch Country Hotel in Lympsham.
Ticket holders were met on arrival at the door Helmsmen Nick Edrish and Marc Smith. Once the guests were seated, Burnham RNLI Chairman Ashley Edwards welcomed everybody and introduced a massive game of heads or tails, after which the dinner was served.
Following on from the meal, a video presentation was delivered about the RNLI, including a videotaped delivery from co-organisers Tim Walters and Marc Smith, thanking Operations Manager Matt Davies for his devotion and management during the past year. This concluded with a bouquet being presented to Matt’s wife Emma for her support.
Matt described the various RNLI roles at Burnham-On-Sea and thanked the wives and girlfriends for their support, followed by musical entertainment from popular local party band Six Machine and a raffle and silent auction.
Matt Davies said: “This is an amazing result for our lifeboat station. Grateful thanks go to all our sponsors, volunteer crew and crew families, plus others too numerous to mention!”
