Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards and lifeboat crews were called out on Sunday afternoon (April 6th) after concern for three paddle boarders in the sea at Brean.
Burnham RNLI launched both their D Class lifeboat, Burnham Reach, and the Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Doris Day and Brian, shortly after 3pm.
The crew of the Atlantic reached Brean Down, as pictured here, where they were briefed by the Burnham-On-Sea Coastguard team that the three potential casualties had safely self-recovered. Both lifeboats were stood down.
A Coastguards spokesperson said the incident had been a false alarm with good intent, and thanked the first informant for raising the alarm when they had concern for the paddle boarders.
The D class lifeboat was still en route at that time. Both lifeboats proceeded back to Burnham for recovery and wash-down before being refuelled and made ready for service for the next incident.
Atlantic Helmsman Jason Coombes said: “We arrived on scene, and quickly made contact with the Coastguard rescue team, who told us the paddle boarders were now safely on the beach.”
