Burnham-On-Sea Inner Wheel and Lympsham W.I. making scrubs bags for care staff

-

Members of Burnham-On-Sea Inner Wheel and Lympsham W.I. have got together to make scrubs bags for local care and health staff to use during the Coronavirus pandemic.

They are being used in Burnham nursing homes, in several local doctors’ surgeries, and at Burnham Hospital, Bridgwater Hospital and Weston Hospice.

Rita Jolliffe, President of Burnham on Sea Inner Wheel, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were approached by one of our Inner Wheel members who works in a care home asking if some bags could be made for the uniforms.”

“We realised that if one home needed them there must be a need in other care and nursing homes in the town.”

“After only four phone calls, an order for 100 was made. Every home spoken to was very thankful for the offer of help.”

“With the help of the Internet, a plea went out for material and the response was amazing.”

“In only one week 250 bags have been distributed with further orders in the pipeline.”

“Inner Wheel and the Women’s Institute are two of the largest women’s voluntary organisations in the world and it is a huge privilege to be able to join forces to achieve this amazing result.”

“Thank you to all members and friends who have so willingly offered to help.”
