Burnham-On-Sea resident dies of Coronavirus in Weston Hospital, confirms NHS

-

Weston General Hospital has this week confirmed the sad death of a Burnham-On-Sea man who had tested for positive for Coronavirus.

The patient was being cared for at the hospital before he passed away on Tuesday (April 7th).

He has been named on social media by his widow, who works at the hospital, as Peter Levy.

A spokesperson for University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust said in a statement: “Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who was being cared for at Weston General Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died.”

“His family, including his wife who is a member of staff at Weston General Hospital, are being supported by colleagues and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”

Tributes have been posted to him on social media by his wife and friends. His widow Sammy writes: “My husband lost his fight against COVID-19 in WGH. It’s fast, fierce and ultimately fatal.”

“He adhered to government advice but others didn’t. I am devastated and I do not want anyone else to go through this. Do as you are told and stay indoors.”

The sad death comes after a Highbridge lady has also passed away from Coronavirus. And, separately, a resident at Burnham’s Frith House care home also has a confirmed case.
