Burnham-On-Sea Friends of Weston Hospicecare have helped to raise a huge sum of £23,603.57 towards the hospice’s work over the past year.
The figure is the grand total raised by the combined Hospice Friends group during 2018 for this local charity.
The hospice takes to £4.2 million to run and only 19 percent of this total is government funded.
The hospice has ten in-patient beds, runs a day hospital three days a week and also works within the community.
The Burnham Friends group this year is focusing on open gardens to help raise funds. The dates and locations are: Sunday 9th June at 178 Burnham Road, Highbridge TA9 3EH; Sunday 30th June at 6 Brightstowe Road, Burnham; Sunday 21st July at 43 Golf links Road when there will be several gardens open all within walking distance. All the gardens will be open from 2-5pm and refreshments will be available.
Fundraiser Phil Thorne said: “We are proud of our fundraising success, in support of the Hospice. Please support if you can.”
