Burnham-On-Sea Food Festival returns to town centre today

-

Big crowds are expected to head to Burnham-On-Sea’s 18th food and drink festival, which is set to take place today (Saturday, 23rd October).

Over 80 stalls are lining Burnham’s town centre streets from 10am-4pm, offering a varied mix of produce from across the region.

The eat:Burnham festival is being run by the eat:Festivals team and promises a feast for the senses with many leading local food and drink producers booked in.

The event comes after a busy spring and summer of eat:festivals in 12 towns including Clevedon, Wells and Lyme Regis.

Co-organiser Sarah Milner Simonds says: “Every town we work with is unique – offering us fresh opportunities for making local connections, discovering new producers and creating new habits. We find some real gems as we are out and about, and we love sharing our discoveries with visitors at our one-day events.”

“We are thrilled to be returning to Burnham-On-Sea on 23rd October for the 18th time and we will be ‘bringing home the harvest’ with a wide range of local producers in the High Street, College Street and Victoria Street.”

Co-organiser Bev Milner Simonds adds: “As the High Street and town centres continue to adjust to the ‘new normal’ we appreciate that our visitors are adjusting to the easing of restrictions at varying paces too.”

“We have tried to ensure that our outdoor markets are a hub of great local food & drink. Our layouts allow for lots of space between stalls, so people don’t feel bustled and there is always a clear route through the event area.”

Sarah adds: “Alongside over 80 local food and drink producers and street food we will have two DJs providing some background beats, buskers on the High Street, and some fairground side shows near the Victoria Hotel.”

“Our strolling street entertainers will be out and about and there is a face painter on College Street near the Methodist Church. And don’t forget The Ritz Social Club have their beer and cider festival on all day and the Victoria Hotel have Six Machine playing in the evening.”

“We continue to monitor and follow Government advice and all our producers are following an enhanced version of the Government’s guidance – including mandatory sneeze screens; enhanced cleaning regimes; encourage contactless payment; ensure we have clear queuing and space management around the stall; provide hand sanitiser stations; put up reminder signage and our friendly stewards are on hand to help out.”
