Burnham-On-Sea cyclist raises £1,900 during four-day charity ride to Paris

-

A Burnham-On-Sea cyclist has pedalled his way from Bristol to Paris in four days to raise £1,900 for a regional charity.

Paul Young was among a group of 53 riders who complete the 470km Bristol to Paris cycle challenge, raising money for Above and Beyond, which helps sick children.

Overall, the 53 riders raised over £105,000 which will go towards specialist equipment and research for BRI Hospitals.

Talking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, Paul said: “We were greeted in Paris by relatives and the Above and Beyond crew with Prosseco and a medal.”

“We’d gone through two days of rain, nightmare hills and sleep degradation and extreme tiredness and here we were with the sun shining.”

“What it proved regardless of ability, age, gender or bike is that we all could made it through with sheer determination.”

“It was for an excellent cause – Above & Beyond are raising funds for Bristol city centre’s nine hospitals, including the BRI Children’s Hospital who do such marvellous work.”
