Burnham-On-Sea Cricket Club has celebrated a full return to play and 160 years of the sport at their annual trophy presentation dinner.
Held at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club, the dinner was provided by the club ‘s catering team.
A spokesman says: “Our President Maurice Wall was unfortunately unable to attend but his wife Sue stepped into the breach to present the Trophies.”
“The Club enjoyed a great season with the 1st XI winning promotion from Div 3 to Div 2 of the Somerset League.”
“The leading performers with the bat were Brad House with 601 runs including a century, Rob Driver with 531 runs and Pete Harris with 471 runs, the batting cup going to Rob Driver with the highest average of 53.10.”
“Andy Ashfold won the 2nd XI batting award with 381 runs at an average of 381! The 2nd’s bowling was the tightest affair with Andy Smith pipping Archie Stamp to the cup. Consolation for Archie was to be named 2nd XI player of the year and winning the mid week XI bowling cup as well with 20 wickets.”
“The 1st XI bowling was won by Pete Harris with 32 wickets at 13.8 average. Conor Lefrere was the 1st XI player of the season with consistent performances with the ball and a couple of excellent lower order knocks.”
“The mid week batting cup was won by Brad House who along with his 601 runs in the SCL tucked into mid week and touring bowling finishing with a phenomenal 1400+ runs in all cricket.”
“The club enjoyed a tour to the Cardiff area organised by Brad House and a notable victory over Lisvane CC was achieved. The Club returns to Div in 2022 – we are always keen to welcome new players to the club so if you want to return to cricket or an existing player who has moved to the area please get in touch.”
