Burnham-On-Sea’s Priory Court Care and Nursing Home has this week unveiled a new look for its gardens and outside areas with a beach-themed facelift.
Led by Senior Carer Julie Keep, the home’s team has joined forces with local street artist Damian Nicholson to transform a dull wall into a fabulous beach area for residents to enjoy.
The grand opening event was attended this week by Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Cllr Andy Brewer, Deputy Mayor Cllr Bill Hancock, and Town Crier Alastair Murray.
Steve Duncan, Customer Relations Manager. at Priory Court, said: “Although Burnham seafront is right on the doorstep at Priory Court some residents are unable to make the journey to the beach, so we’ve bought the seaside to them.”
“The wall was painted by local artist Damien Nicholson. Damien visited the home and met the residents and suggested the seascape and we nervously agreed – it’s a big wall to get wrong, but the rest is history!”
“The Garden was spearheaded by Julie and our resident Ken. When I joined Priory Court in January I immediately knew we had to maximise the potential in the Priory Court garden and when I discussed it with Julie and Elizabeth (Home Manager), we decided to push on with an overhaul of the garden with the guidance and help of our residents.”
This Saturday, August 3rd, will see the gardens open to visitors for it Priory Court’s Summer Fair from 2pm-4.30pm.
