A fundraising cake sale is being held in Burnham-On-Sea today (Saturday, April 19th) in support of a local fundraiser who is running a marathon next weekend.
The cake sale is being held by Sarah White at 3a Sunny Lawns in South Street, Burnham from 11am-2pm.
It will be raising funds towards Young Lives Vs Cancer, the chosen charity of Burnham runner Nicola Stent who is taking on the London Marathon next weekend, along with fellow runner David Usher, pictured above.
The cake sale will see fruit cakes, quiches, sponges, and marmalades going on sale with dairy free options and a couple of gluten free choices too.
Sarah White says: “After three fundraising cake sale events for Kidney Research last year I keep being asked by locals on my local dog walks for more cake sales.”
“I have known Nicola since she moved here. She works very hard for her charity so I decided to do one for her, with the funds going to the children’s cancer unit at Musgrove. I can’t run, but I can make cakes!”
Nicola says she is “very grateful” for the support of Sarah and has invited all to attend. “I’m excited to be taking part in the London Marathon while supporting a worthy cause.”
David adds: “Although I’m beginning to feel some nerves, I’m confident that the experience and support from my running partner will carry me through.”
