Award-winning Burnham-On-Sea cake maker Dusica Roberts opened her brand new shop in the town centre on Saturday (May 25th).
Burnham Mayor Cllr Andy Brewer and Mayoress Lorna Brewer – on their first official engagement in Burnham since taking on the role – led a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new shop at 14 Oxford Street.
Family, friends and supporters of Dusica cheered as the ribbon was cut to formally open the shop, which has been decorated in a modern, luxury boutique style to match her cakes.
The character ‘Belle’ from Beauty and The Beast was also at the opening to help cut the ribbon and welcome younger customers.
As an opening day thank you, Dusica gave out free cupcakes to the first 20 people to visit the new shop.
She told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I have been running DusiCake for a number of years as a home business with already great support from local people.”
“Recently the opportunity came up to take on a vacant shop in Burnham-On-Sea and I thought this would be a great time to expand and offer my cakes to a wider audience.”
“The new cake shop is headquarters for DusiCake. I will continue to create wedding and celebration cakes and happy couples will now be able to visit for cake tasting consultations too.”
“Daily, I am offering luxury cake and cupcakes in a range of flavours and toppings, alongside refreshments.”
“Gluten free and vegan cake options are also available daily.”
