Burnham-On-Sea beach filled with families on the hottest day of the year so far

-

Hundreds of people headed to Burnham-On-Sea beach on Wednesday (May 20th) on the hottest day of the year so far.

Large numbers of families and visitors lined the beach from the jetty to the lighthouse, as pictured here, with most following social distancing guidelines.

It comes despite local councils continuing to advise visitors to stay away until the lockdown ends to avoid spreading the Coronavirus. Burnham’s seafront and beaches were very busy through the afternoon, and Burnham’s Coastguards and RNLI were also called out.

Further along the coast, there were hundreds of cars parked up next to Brean Down where people were taking advantage of the Government’s easing of the lockdown with unlimited travel and exercise time. Apex Park’s car park in Highbridge was also full with vehicles.

Temperatures hit 23°C (73.4°F) on the hottest day of the year so far in Burnham-On-Sea with more good weather forecast for tomorrow.
