Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge to mark Remembrance Sunday with ceremonies

-

A number of events are taking place in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge today (Sunday, November 10th) to mark Remembrance.

Burnham’s Remembrance Sunday Parade will start from the B&M car park at 10.40am. Those taking part will march along the High Street to the town’s War Memorial in Love Lane, where the ceremony will be held at 11am.

“A large turnout of local service groups, cadet groups, community organisations, emergency services and veterans will be taking part,” said John Crosby from Burnham’s Royal British Legion branch.

“A group of King Alfred School students will be reading a list of the names of the fallen – those local people who died in the two world wars.”

Rev Graham Witts from Burnham’s St Andrew’s Church will be leading the ceremony at Burnham’s War Memorial.

A 3pm remembrance service will also be held at St John’s Church in Highbridge. The annual Highbridge parade leaves the Bank Street car park beforehand.

The service will be followed by a ceremony at Highbridge’s war memorial for a Minute’s Silence and wreath laying.
