Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge students achieve Duke Of Edinburgh awards

-

A group of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Year 10 students at King Alfred School Academy have achieved bronze Duke Of Edinburgh awards after months of volunteering, physical activity and gaining beneficial skills for the future.

From teaching children marshal arts to volunteering at local youth clubs, the award has enabled the local students to explore life outside of school and obtain new skills.

“The students have been going out of their comfort zones on expeditions, proving their courage and resilience, all while inspiring young people to follow in their footsteps,” said a school spokesman.

Student Libby Ruston added: “It brings out the best in you as it makes you come together as a team.”

Fellow Year 10 pupil Abigail Dowell said: “Although it was tough, it was a great experience.”
