Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Gateway Club members gathered together on Thursday night (September 19th) to celebrate the group’s 40th anniversary.
The Gateway Club, which originally opened in 1979, is based at the BAY Centre in Burnham’s Cassis Close and provides social activities for adults with learning difficulties.
Members and supporters gathered at The Place in Brean for a celebratory evening with special guests, Burnham’s Mayor Cllr Andy Brewer and Sedgemoor District Chairman Cllr Peter Clayton.
Also in attendance were some of the long-serving volunteers at Burnham and Highbridge Gateway Club, including Joyce Beard, Julia Elswood and leader Barbara Thorogood.
Original Gateway members present included Christine, Andrew, Gillian, Helena and Susie.
“It was a great evening, with lots of fun and reminiscing,” said a spokesman.
