Burnham darts star Gary Anderson reaches semi-finals of World Championships

-

Burnham-On-Sea darts star Gary Anderson produced one of his best performances of the year when he reached the World Darts Championship semi-finals at Alexandra Palace on Saturday (December 29th).

The two-time world champion powered into the semi-finals of the PDC World Championships by beating Dave Chisnall 5-2.

Gary, who was champion in 2015 and 2016, averaged a score of 103.03 and hit 12 maximums.

He will play world number one Michael van Gerwen or world number 74 Ryan Joyce in the last four tonight (Sunday, December 30th).

During Saturday’s match, Gary lost only one leg on the way to a 2-0 lead, before taking the third set on a deciding leg.

He missed a double nine to go 4-0 up and Chisnall, ranked 12th, capitalised to win the fourth set.

But a 130 finish saw the Burnham-On-Sea player take the fifth set and, though his rival took the sixth, he completed the win.

In a TV interview afterwards, Gary said he won despite having back pain that had resulted in a trip to the chiropractor on Friday.
