Burnham and Highbridge publicans join together to tackle anti-social behaviour in pubs

-

A growing Pubwatch group in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge that is promoting safer drinking environments for customers says it has seen success.

The Burnham and Highbridge publicans, pictured, are working closely with Burnham-On-Sea Police to improve communication between local licensed premises.

“Since re-starting the new Pubwatch scheme, we have worked with the Police and 17 people are now banned from local pubs,” says a spokesperson.

“The Pubwatch group has a dozen Burnham and Highbridge pubs taking part to share information about issues such as anti-social behaviour, thefts and drug dealing.”

“The scheme sees people banned for differing periods of time from local pubs for drug taking, drug dealing, assault or anti-social behaviour.”

“The scheme acts as a deterrent to dissuade people from causing problems. We hope it makes people feel safer when using local pubs.”
