Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s weekly Parkruns reached another major milestone on Saturday (June 15th) with its fourth birthday.
The popular weekly 5km runs, held at Apex Park, have gradually grown from 144 runners at the first event in June 2015 to a record 589 runners last month.
Organisers from Burnham-On-Sea Harriers Running Club have this week thanked the team of volunteers who play a vital role in safely marshalling it each week.
Race director Reg Huxtable told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Since our first event, 7,589 participants have completed 45,813 parkruns covering a total distance of 229,065km, including 8,662 new Personal Bests. A total of 450 individuals have volunteered 3,880 times.”
