Burnbridge Wanderers Under 12s football team secured a place in the Woodspring Junior League Cup Final with an impressive 8-1 semi-final victory against Weston Crusaders on Sunday (3rd April).
The delighted youngsters, pictured, will now play Portishead Juniors in the final in a few weeks’ time.
Manager Simon Windram told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This is a great achievement for our team as Weston Crusaders are currently fifth in the first division and Burnbridge are fourth in the second division.”
“The whole team played exceptionally well and didn’t let Weston Crusaders settle into their game. After conceding an early goal in the 12th minute we came back straight away with a goal in the 14th minute to bring the scores level. We then continued to dominate the game and scored again three times before half time. The second half continued in the same way with Burnbridge dominating and the keeper only touched the ball once in the second half.”
The team thanked their parents and spectators for their support on the day and look forward to playing Portishead in the final.
They will be wearing a new kit sponsored by the RAF for the first time at the final, which has been supplied as part of an initiative to support community sport.
