Burnham-On-Sea’s Burnbridge Wanderers U13s are celebrating this week after being crowned champions of Woodspring League Division 2.
The youngsters finished their victorious season at the weekend with a 5-0 win over Hutton Juniors to clinch the overall title and gain promotion to the Woodspring First Division next season.
The team were unbeaten in the league all season, winning 13 of their 14 matches and drawing one. They also reached the quarter finals of the Tesco Cup earlier in the year.
Manager Simon Windram told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “After the high of getting through to the Woodspring Cup Final, the team continued its improvements this year with a remarkable run in the league and Tesco Cup.”
“I cannot praise the boys enough for all their hard work in training and the amazing team spirit and sportsmanship they have shown throughout the season.”
“I must also thank all of the parents for their continued support for the boys and their exemplary touchline behaviour at every game.”
Chairman Paul Harding added: “What the boys have done is a fantastic achievement. We hear so much bad news about the youth of today and here we have a group of boys doing something positive and constructive together. The whole club is very proud of their achievements.”
