Burnham-On-Sea police issue warning after 10 burglaries

-

Police in Burnham-On-Sea have this week issued a warning to residents to check their homes are secure after a spate of ten burglaries in just four days.

Jewellery and money has been stolen by the opportunistic burglars, who are targeting insecure homes across the Burnham area.

Five of the burglaries have taken place in West Huntspill with others in Burnham, Highbridge, Berrow and Pawlett.

Burnham Police’s Inspector Roger Tolley told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The group of young men are targeting predominantly bungalows where windows have been left open or where homes look unoccupied.”

“Most of the burglaries have occurred in the afternoon and early evening, and jewellery, money and other valuables have been taken.”

He added: “We would urge residents to report any suspicious activity and also to make their homes look occupied even when they are not at home.”
