Work to build a new 48-home housing development in Burnham-On-Sea is causing ‘huge disruption’ to residents it has been claimed this week.
Homeowners in Lawrence Close say Persimmon’s work to build the new Mulberry Park estate next to Lawrence Close is causing unreasonable amounts of disruption.
Local resident Roger Bowring told Burnham-On-Sea.com this week: “Persimmon are continuing to cause huge disruption to residents living adjacent to their building site.”
“Heavy lorries equipped with cranes for unloading and transporters carrying super large loads and pieces of plant machinery are blocking the narrow roads daily to discharge their material.”
“On Tuesday residents and the weekly refuse collectors were made to wait while four of these huge vehicles blocked each other and everyone else as they manoeuvered and reversed around the very narrow junction which was also restricted by the contractors’ parked vehicles.”
“They regularly use Beale Way and Stone Road to reverse at their convenience, ignoring the fact that they are very narrow residential roads.”
Sedgemoor’s Planning Enforcement Officer David Crowle has approached Persimmon regarding the concerns and the council is working with the firm to ensure that the disruption is “kept to a minimum”.
