Ceremony held to welcome newcomers at Burnham-On-Sea Brownies

-

A special ceremony was held this week to welcome nine new members at 5th Burnham-On-Sea Brownies group.

Girls in guiding are encouraged – through the ‘Promise and Brownie Law’ – to be honest, helpful, considerate and to face challenges, to speak out and take action to improve their lives and the lives of others.

The girls have enjoyed learning about the meaning of the words during the past few weeks.

Jess Sinnott, the unit’s leader, said: “I really enjoy running the unit and enrolling new members into Girlguiding is always special.”

“Since we opened in January, the unit has been enjoying lots of exciting activities, games, and crafts. We are really lucky that we have opened the unit during a special year for Brownies.”

“2014 is year of the Big Brownie Birthday, and we will be taking part in lots of exciting events this year with other local units to celebrate. The girls are currently working on the Big Brownie Birthday Challenge.”

Brownies is aimed at girls aged 7-10 years old and those interested in joining can register their interest online here.
