Burnham-On-Sea fire crews called to tackle Bridgwater blaze

-

Burnham-On-Sea fire crews were among dozens of firefighters tackling a major blaze in Bridgwater on Saturday night (November 28th).

Fire engines from Burnham, Bridgwater, Taunton, Nether Stowey, Street and Yeovil were called to the Classic Buildings in Penel Orlieu, Bridgwater at 9.31pm, as pictured here.

The fire service received numerous calls from people in the area regarding a fire in a block of flats.

The blaze quickly spread through the three-storey property to the first and second floors and through to the roof.

Since the building is also attached to the Mecca Bingo Hall and Cinema, both were also evacuated. Fire crews were using a 13 metre ladder in addition to breathing apparatus and specialised water carriers.

The fire was finally brought under full control at 4.30am on Sunday morning (Nov 29th).
