Burnham-On-Sea fire crew helps tackle major Bridgwater blaze

-

Over 50 firefighters from Burnham-On-Sea and across Somerset were called to tackle a major fire in a building in the centre of Bridgwater on Monday morning (February 11th).

Three people were rescued from the property as eight fire crews from Burnham, Bridgwater, Taunton and Street fought the blaze at the Old Auction Rooms in Monmouth Street.

Smoke was seen emerging from the derelict property at around 9.45am and fire crews used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to bring the blaze under control.

Fire spokesman Paul Slavin told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “At 10.04am three people were rescued from the building by the fire service, meaning all persons were accounted for.”

“By 10.11am eight pumps were tackling the blaze and there were reports of a large crack in the building so a building inspector was requested.”
