Over 120 runners from across the South West took part in the annual gruelling race from Burnham-On-Sea to the top of Brent Knoll and back on Sunday morning (November 29th).
The 5.5 mile Brent Knoll Run has been held for more than 20 years, having originally been started as a small race attached to the village’s summer fete.
Burnham Harriers took over it several years ago and moved it to the winter to make it more competitive.
Organiser Brian Beale of Burnham Harriers told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Sunday he was pleased with how the event had gone. “It’s been slippery under foot and the weather was not good, so we were very pleased to get 122 runners in total,” he said.
The runners started at Burnham’s BASC ground in Stoddens Road before going cross-country over the fields to the summit of Brent Knoll and back with a slightly different return route this year.
Sunday’s race was won by Tom Fisher of Bath, pictured above. He completed the event in a time of 39 minutes and 51 seconds. “It was very slippery in parts of the course, but I really enjoyed it,” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
